Spyshots: Kia pro_cee’d GT with 1.6 T-GDI Engine

Good new Kia fans from across Euro, the brand is finally going sporty at a time we least expected it to. The new pro_cee’d is finally getting that hot version we’ve always wanted. The previous generation used to have a 140 horsepower 2-liter, but they’ve taken things to a whole new level this time.

This is the very first time that the pro-cee’d GT has been spotted testing, as it’s getting ready for its big launch in mid-2013. The coupe is sporty all around, from the styling to the engine. Speaking of the engine, downsizing is the key word, as it packs a new 1.6-liter GDI motor with direct injection, a twin-scroll turbo, as well as strengthened internals that produces 204 horsepower and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque, working together with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The result of all that power isn’t that impressive on paper. Despite more power than the new Clio RS or Fiesta ST, it only gets from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. But we have to take into consideration that this is a class above in size.

This Astra GTC rival will hit the market with new front and rear fascias, modified headlights, as well as a new front grille and a set of 18-inch alloy wheels. Bucket seats should be standard, but don’t expect a cheap deal at your local dealer as a result.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
