Now that Ferrari has placed the LaFerrari atop of its street line-up, the Prancing Horse can focus on the motorsport operations that made it what it is today.
Ferrari is working its way back to Le Mans, with the latest spyshots revealing the company’s race car. The company previosuly said it would like to return to LMP1 and this is the only Le Mans tier that would make sense for them, so we can assume that’s what the racer is intended for.
This may seem like a LaFerrari, but it’s actually a test mule for the future motorsport proposal. Never mind the massive aero elements on the car, headed by that rear wing - this Ferrari won’t race until 2015 or 2016.
Ferrari previously said its new F1 engine is set to open a wide host of new possibilities, so the powerplant could find its way to the Circuit de la Sarthe in one form or another.
We’re very excited about Ferrari’s Le Mans return, but, then again, so is Porsche - they’ll be waiting for the Italians, as Porsche is racing in the 2014 LMP1 season.
