Spyshots: F30 BMW 3 Series Wagon

Our spy photographers aren’t necessarily family men, but they do have a soft spot for estates, so they were happy when they met the wagon (Touring, in European language) incarnation of the upcoming F30 BMW 3 Series.

The vehicle uses a longer wheelbases compared to the sedan, but there are no other major differences, except for the rear of the car, obviously. Here, we see BMW’s usual approach, but the line of the third window somehow reminds us of the 3 Series E46 Touring.

The vehicle is still wearing a ton of camo, so there aren’t any new details about its front or rear fascias. However, you can use this rendering of the sedan in order to get an idea of how the car’s front end will look like.

As for the engine range of the upcoming 3 Series, this will include downsized four- and six-cylinder turbocharged engines, with even the M3 expected to follow this route, as the car is rumored to get a tri-turbo six-cylinder powerplant with around 450 hp.

The F30 BMW 3 Series should hit the market in March next year, with the Wagon version set to arrive in September 2012. The coupe incarnation of the car will come in September 2013, while the convertible will be launched in March 2014. However, BMW will also use its niche approach for the 3 Series, which means that in addition to the aforementioned traditional versions, we will also get a Gran Turismo model, which should land in March 2013.
