The mid-life facelift for the Cadillac CT6 sedan is progressing nicely, and we can now give you a better look at the updated grille. Some say it looks like a Genesis, but it's inspired by Cadillac's most popular recent concept.
The Escala was presented at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance as a "statement of intent for the next iteration of the Cadillac design language, and also technical concepts in development for future Cadillac models."
As you can see, the CT6 is getting a lot of Escala design elements. We should also see these lines on the 3-row crossover and an entry-level premium sedan similar to the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA.
Getting back to the CT6's front end, we notice it's mirrored by another smaller grille below. The headlights aren't the final units, but a vertical line of LEDs is being revealed by the spyshots. The taillights should also be tweaked to reflect the design on the Escala.
Like so many other automakers, Cadillac is using two lines that don't intersect to highlight the profile. We have to say that Jaguar Land Rover is spoiling us with flush door handles. Inside, the CT6 is already well decked out in screens, but Cadillac might introduce a mild version of the Super Cruise self-driving system. It's that kind of stuff that makes people buy Mercs and Audis, and the Americans have to adapt.
So what's under the hood? Well, the big story with the CT6 is likely to be a flagship 4.2-liter twin-turbocharged V8. Cadillac is staying away from the supercharged monsters of the past and instead focusing on refinement. Think Audi A8 W12, Mercedes S560, and BMW 750i. No V badges on this one... unless there's a body kit available.
But that's not all. In China, they have a 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid option with limited EV range. There's also a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 producing 404 horsepower.
