What do you do when you have a good looking thing in your garage and you want take it out to the clubs, but you’re worried that people will think its an old model, who’s looks are fading. The answer is simple: you garnish it with a bit of mascara round the eyes and ask the good doctor to give her some more chiseled features front and back.
That’s exactly what happened with the BMW X6, which is going to receive a light facelift soon. We caught up with the prototype that was giving some of the new features a go, and we managed to get really up close and personal with it.

The changes include a redesign of the headlights, as the angel eyes typical to BMW now have a squared off section, just like the new 1-Series. Round the back, the shape of the taillights has not changed, but the graphics have, to fit the rest of the lineup.

We know that they are also working on a different bumper design, and that the daytime running lights will probably be changed, but the prototype you see here is stock in the perspective.

There is no word on any changes to the engine range, but we could see a slight tweaks for the X6 M. There’s also talk of diesels coming to the performance house.

So why is BMW making a facelift with so few changes? Well, Mercedes and Audi are both planning rivals, but their crossovers with coupe-ish back ends are still a good few years away from entering production.
