Spyshots: BMW X1 in Cherry Red Guise

We must say, the newest addition to the BMW range, the X1, is probably one of the most spied on car in the world these day. If you have been watching, the X1 story is no longer unknown to you. If not, we will remind you that the small SUV will come into the public eye at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.

But first, let's take a look at these spyshots. Unlike the ones we brought you before, be it official or not, this X1 is...red. Otherwise, the X1 is as we described it when presenting you the other set of spyshots, except perhaps that this red one boasts bigger wheels, has roof rails and BMW's shark fin.

The X1 boasts some elements which are reminiscent of both the ranges from which was inspired, the 1 Series and the X range. From its X3 bigger brother, the X1 borrows elements such as the positioning of the fog lamps and the overall aspects of the front spoiler. Unlike the rigid X3, the X1 looks a bit more "round" and boasts a swept forward position.

As for the engine choices, although yet unconfirmed by the German manufacturer, BMW X1 will probably use the following units:
  • BMW X1 xDrive20d - 177 hp - 0-60 mph in 8.4 seconds/top speed 132 mph (213 km/h)/fuel consumption 40.5 mph (5.8 liters / 100 km)
  • BMW X1 xDrive23d - 204 hp - 0-60 mph in 7.3 seconds/top speed 138 mph (223 km/h)/fuel consumption 37 mpg (6,3 Liter / 100 km)
  • BMW X1 xDrive28i - 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds/top speed 142 mph(230 km/h)

In terms of prices, the new X1 will be priced in the 30,000 – 35,000 euro range.
