The Bavarian automaker once known only for making fast saloons and coupe, exclusively with rear wheel-drive, is now targeting more mainstream niches for regular buyers.

The first two cars to use their new UKL platform will be the next MINI Cooper and the 1-Series GT previewed by the Active Tourer last year. Both will have the same wheelbase, but this car right here uses a stretch platform.

Likely designed to cary seven people, this MPV will use the same 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engines. MINI is also working on an MPV of its own, though we don't yet know if their monocab will have this many seats.
