BMW has already shown us the M4 Concept last month and, until the production version arrives, we have plenty of time to ask questions about the M4 Cabriolet. The latest answer to these questions comes in the form of the adjacent images, which show the BMW M4 Cabrio prototype lapping the Nurburgring.
BMW will keep the folding metal roof layout of the E93 M3 Cabriolet for the upcoming F83 M4 Cabrio, but we’re expecting the engineers to come with serious weight-saving measures, now that the entire auto world has gone on a diet.

It’s no longer cool to show beefy naturally-aspirated engines these days, so we’ll see the M4, be it Coupe or Cabrio, ditch its 4.0-liter V8 in favor of a turbocharged 3.0-liter unit. Thanks to a still unknown number of turbines, the new unit will deliver about the same power (420 HP) and superior torque - the M3 now offers 295 lb-ft (400 Nm).
