The body of this car is no secret to us at all: this is the 1-Series, the new F20 launched last year, but featuring a three-door body. While this is the going to be the only rear wheel drive car in its segment, we’d stop short of calling it a sports coupe, since they haven’t lowered the roof at all towards the back.
Right, now on to the powertrain! BMW obviously intends to show that it can shoehorn their most powerful six-cylinder gasoline engine into the smallest chassis, but it’s not yet clear where this will take the 1-Series.

With the previous generation, they stopped at 265 horsepower with the 130i hatchback, but now they will put the twin-turbo straight six and make it into a 135i. However, this might either become a standard 135i with just over 300 hp or an M Performance car with 320 hp. We expect, however, they will keep the most powerful iteration of the engine for the coupe and turn it into a true M car.
