BMW is preparing to launch a front-wheel drive offensive on the market and the vehicle you see spied here is set to play an important role in the scheme. We are talking about the BMW FAST (Family Activity Sports Tourer), with our spy photographers recently shooting the car while this was transported on a platform.
The BMW FAST will ride on the company’s compact UKL platform, and it will be offered with either front- or all-wheel drive. The architecture will debut with the third-gen MINI later this year, but it will eventually serve up to 15 new models.

The FAST will be a mix between a MPV and a crossover, so this will most likely be the 1 Series GT, with BMW expected to give us a five- and a seven-seater.

As for the power, this should come from BMW’s new 1.5-liter engine family and we can expect the FAST to borrow the i3’s eDrive hybrid powertrain.
