We just received these awesome, most interesting photos from our trusty team of spy photographers. At first you might think this is just the upcoming 1 Series GT, as it does have a shape similar to what we expect.
Think again. What we're looking at here ladies and gentlemen is nothing else than a brand new concept created by out favorite brand. It is called CAT and the acronym stands for Compact Activity Tourer.

This new car has some distinctive features. The shape of the roof, the positioning of the C-Pillar and the rearmost side window tell us that this is not 1 Series GT. This is a new car from BMW, one based on the infamous UKL platform.

However, this model won't be coming out alone, in 2015 or late 2014. It will be joined by some other new variations based on the UKL platform, as we already told you that this new chassis will spawn up to 20 new models.

The new models will include the so-called FAST (Family Activity Sports Tourer, a car that will step in right below the X1), the JOY (a 2-door version of the 1 Series) and the MINI MAT (Multi Activity Transporter, something similar to the FAST concept).

All the cars will be powered using front-wheel-drive transmission and that is also translated in the cars' designs. As you'll definitely notice, the famous Hofmeister Kink, used on almost every BMW along the way to emphasize the dynamic character of the cars and remind you that they are rear-wheel-drive, is now missing from the 1 Series GT prototype and the CAT.
