BMW recently dropped a whole bunch of the M Performance vehicles destined for the Geneva Motor Show in March. But the M550d, X5 M50d and X6M50d were all powered by the new super-diesel engine, the 381 hp 3.0-liter. But we still haven’t heard anything about the production version of the 1-Series Performance Concept that was show in Frankfurt.
Well here it is, a bit camouflaged, but still easily distinguishable as the M Performance 135i hatchback. This prototype is still bearing the 118i moniker on the tailgate, but it’s actually got a twin-turbo straight-six under the bonnet.
This will be treated to the same sort of non-standard sports exhaust, airbox and remap that you can get on your 3-Series to push it to 320 horsepower. A great deal is expected from this car, since it might be able to push past the first 100km/h (62mph) in just over 5 seconds, though we don’t expect it will touch the 1M’s 4.9 second sprint time.
