Any car company is made up of two polar opposites that try to tug in in different directions. There's the engineers that want to build the best car possible in the longest amount of time, and the money men, who want new cars every other week and lowered costs to increase profitability.
Can you guess which group wanted the first front-wheel drive BMW ever made? Leaving that aside, a family hatchback built by any German automaker should sell well, especially if it's got that propeller badge on the front.

The 1-Series GT will soon enter production, most likely this summer, but before it does so, it's undergoing a session of winter testing. BMW engineers have been beavering away on this very important entry-level car for a while now. It's built on the same platform as the next generation MINI hatchback. It should be categorised as a compact car, sized a bit over 4 meters.

Our spy photographers on location in Scandinavia tell us that the car is bigger than it appears. It can also be a capable machine for the snow, since BMW developed this modular architecture for both front and all-wheel drive.

The engine range will be made up exclusively of 1.5-liter three-cylinder, both petrol and diesel. Many components will be shared between the motors, lowering the price of the 1-Series.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
