Our spy shooters have recently caught a rather mysterious Audi R8 testing at the Nurburgring. This seems to be an upcoming range-topping incarnation of the R8, which will probably replace the now-discontinued R8 GT.
While the entire R8 line-up has already received a facelift, the R8 GT was put out of production. This was a limited edition (only 333 were made) and the demand exceeded Audi’s expectations. When they released the revamped model, the GT disappeared, but Audi introduced the R8 V10 Plus, now a series model.

However, it seems that Audi still has plans for an even meaner R8, possibly a road-legal version of the GT3 racer.

As you can see in the adjacent images, the supercar comes with multiple agrresive aero bits, includign a chin spoiler, winglets for the front quarter panel. At the back, we can find a huge wing, as well as a lip spoiler. We’re expecting these goodies to be made from carbon fiber. In addition, there are new, generously-sized wheels, which seem to conceal a set of carbon-ceramic brakes.

And if we take a look inside, we’ll notice a rollcage, as well as racing-inspired harness belt system for the driver and his passenger.

This street-legal version of the Audi R8 GT3 is also expected to top the R8 V10 Plus in terms of power, which means that we’ll get about 575-600 hp.

We’ll remind you that last autumn brought us a similar R8 development car. However, back then the vehicle wasn’t wearing a facelift and it also came with a vented hood, which is now gone.
