Spyshots: Audi Q8 Production Interior Revealed

Unlike BMW, there's no direct link between SUV and sedan models of the same number in the Audi lineup. Despite this, the interior of the all-new Q8 flagship model is a lot like that of the 2018 A8 limousine, our latest spyshots reveal.

We've seen the interior of the Q8 as a concept twice. But this is the real deal, spied without even a hint of camouflage. We have no idea why the engineers were testing it like this, but they probably left the cabin open intentionally. Likewise, an imminent debut in Detroit is also possible.

A long design element connects the vents almost cross the entire dashboard, which is one of the few design elements shared with the Q7 SUV. But this gets paired with twin center screens, just like we've seen in the A8.

The second display mounted on the center console reclines back and is surrounded by aluminum trim. It's responsible for replacing the air conditioning controls.

The larger screen up top melts into the dashboard thanks to a large glass surface to its right. Is this the automotive equivalent of the Samsung edge screen?

And if you want yet more screens, there's another one for the Audi Virtual Cockpit system, obviously. However, it looks a lot bigger than the one in the R8 and TT. The engine temperature and fuel level will be displayed separately on either side of the screen.

In any case, the interior of the Q8 is unlike anything you see in other Sport Activity Coupes right now - very Tesla like. We'll have to wait until 2018 to see if that translates into sales success.

All signs point towards this interior belonging to a regular Q8, one powered by the 3.0 TDI or TFSI. Audi recently announced it's changing the names of the models. We can't wait... to be confused by that. What is this going to be, the Q8 35 TFSI?

At least one of the powertrains will have the 48V electric system, either the 4.0 TDI or the SQ8 previewed by the Q8 Sport Concept, which had 20 kW of hybrid assist. But the dashboard and all the clever screens are on a separate low-voltage circuit.
