Everybody knows that the Audi A8 is for boring old rich folks and heads of state. It's never been that amazing to look or drive, not compared to the S-Class and 7 Series. And yet round about the middle of last year a facelift came out and blew people away. Here was a car that, with Matrix LED headlights and crisper design, could trick you into thinking it was brand new.
Now, Audi is looking to do the same with a number of other cars, most notably the A7 four-door coupe. A relatively new car, the A7 was revealed as recently as 2010 and hasn't made a name for itself yet. But the next model year will be sharper than ever, thanks to trapezoidal exhaust, new LED headlights and taillights and a reworked interior.

A subtly updated grille features broader bezels near the headlights, while the shape of the bumper and lower intakes have also been revised. Audi's new design language focuses on two thin, straight lines in the head and tail lights that split as they near the edge of the car. It's strangely similar to what the Lamborghini Huracan and even Volvo's concepts.

Engine-wise the A7 has not been allowed access to some of Audi's best engines. For example, the base model has a lack-luster 2.8 FSI V6, which might be replaced with a turbo four-banger.

The first sighting of the A7 facelift was in November last year, so we don't think it will be ready to debut at this March's Geneva Motor Show. However, we're likely to see the car before the end of the year in production form.
