Alfa Romeo’s return to the US market has been pushed back to 2014, but it will reportedly involve four new models at once: the 4C sportscar, a revival of the Spider, the Giulia sedan and this, their first SUV.
This test mule has been roaming around for a while now, and now our spy photographers have managed to capture fresh these fresh images of the test mule while it was testin in the South of Europe.
They also tell us that it will be called the CXover, a name which doesn’t really roll off the tongue. It will have permanent all-wheel drive that sends 60 percent of the torque to the back.
It will reportedly be motivated by a 2.0-liter petrol engine that’s been turbocharged to produce 300 horsepower. We’re not sure if we should believe that, since the 1.8-liter they’re developing also makes 300 horsepower. Also, about 200 horsepower should be enough for any SUV buyer in this segment.
The platform hiding under this mule is also to be used by an upcoming Jeep model. The CXover will be 4.4 meters long and 1.8 meters wide.
