It's only a rumor right now, but a recent rumor has been spreading like wildfire through the MINI community. The company is unlikely to develop any new models for a while. It seems rather than going all-out with a 10-strong lineup of crazy little creations, BMW has changed their plan and is now only making 4 or 5 models which it hopes will be the best in their class.
That sounds like a tall order, but we've been looking at the new Cooper 3-door hatch and it looks like better value than the equivalent Peugeot 208.

We have spy photos of the next three chassis types for the MINI brand, likely to be the only new cars we'll see from the until the Clubman is ready to be replaced. All are based on the new UKL1 architecture but have subtle differences.

There's going to be a 5-door version of the hatchback, a better car for families. It will have a slightly longer wheelbase and should measure about 3.9 meters from one bumper to the other. The doors will be slightly shorter in the front than on the 3-door, which actually makes them easier to open in a car park.

Then there's the new MINI Convertible, identical to the 3-door hatch except for the fact that it comes with a fabric roof. Finally, that horrible old Clubman will be swapped for a very practical MPV that might or might not share its name (Freeman has been rumored).

All will come with the same 1.2, 1.5 and 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo petrol and diesel engines and will offer manual or automatic gearboxes with six speeds.

If the looks aren't to your liking, than consider the fact that all will be practical, well built small cars with some of the latest BMW technology. You don't get that with a Citroen C3, do you?

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
