Sure, extreme bits such as the carbon fiber exterior goodies or the two-tone cabin probably won't make it into showrooms, but most of the concept's delicious appearance will.

And the time has now come for the 2019 BMW Z4 prototypes to get closer to what we've seen on the design study. Case in point with the test car spied here, which showcases the production lights of the roadster.

The inner graphics of the light clusters seem to fall in line with those of the concept, so we can't wait for that camo to come off. The move is expected to take place next year, probably at the Geneva Motor Show in March, so we still have a bit of waiting to do.

Given BMW's carbon fiber reinforced polymer experience, gained with the i3 and i8, we're expecting the new Z4, along with its Totora Supra fixed-roof unidentical twin, to be underpinned by a high-tech platform mixing aluminum with CFRP.

The engine lineup of the Bimmer will kick off with a pair of turbo-fours, which will receive the sDrive20i and sDrive30i badges. Right above them, we'll find the B58 3.0L-animated M40i, which will deliver at least 335 hp and 369 lb-ft.

The rumor mill also talks about a hybrid powertrain, while also mentioning an all-out M version of the Z4.

As far as the transmission choices are concerned, you'll be able to choose between a six-speed stick shift and an eight-ratio automatic.

Some of the best cars we've driven over the years were designed when carmakers happened to be taken outside their comfort zone. This is also the case with the second-generation Z4, since convincing the audience to spend money on a roadster is extremely difficult nowadays, which is why we're expecting the Bavarian go-fast machine to be nothing short of brilliant.
