Spyshots: 2016 Nissan Murano Design Details Being Revealed

At the very end of November, we showed you the first pictures of the new Nissan Murano spied for the first time on the US roads. Today we gonna bring you some new spy shots of a less disguised prototype with his headlights undisguised. This was an excellent opportunity to compare the future production model to the concept that previewed it, the Resonance Concept.

For year, the Murano has been Nissan designers' excuse to go wild and make a full scale version of a toy car. The most outlandish grilles and light clusters have been used to draw attention to the SUV.

Two of our spy photos show some details benchmarked against the Resonance Concept which they revealed the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit. There you can see that the front lights shaped like bumerangs are similar to the concept, as well as the special C-pillar design.

The new Murano will sit atop the Pathfinder and will be offered with a range of familiar engines. The 3.5-liter V6 will be borrowed from the US-made Maxima sedan, but there will also be hybrid 2.4-liter setup as well.

European buyers on the other hand will probably be tempted out of their hard-earned money by a new four-cylinder dCi diesel engine. For the Japanese market, Nissan recently announced a new 2.0-liter clean diesel which we think will replace the older 2.5-liter. It will have slightly less power but plenty of torque and better fuel economy.
