After a long, heated debate, the autoevolution crew decided the car in the photos below might be the upcoming G11 7 Series and not the 5 Series as we suspected before (don’t tell anyone but not even now we’re not 100% completely sure).
The prototype was spotted near BMW’s Munich HQ and, as you can see, was wearing heavy camouflage. However, according to our spy photographers, it was so big that it simply couldn’t be anything else than the new 7er.
For the new car, it seems like BMW wants to change a thing or two, like the C-Pillar and the door handles than seem to have a new design and a new position. The one thing you can clearly make out here are the exhaust tips, even though they might end up completely different on the production car.
As for tech details, based on the more and more extensive usage of lightweight materials on most recent cars, we’re assuming that the G11 will also have plenty of CFRP in it, maybe some of the M3/M4 technology too, like the propshaft.
New engines might also include a 2-liter engine, a first for the 7 Series whilst the 6-liter V12 might be pulled from the market due to stringent CO2 emission regulation.
