In the cup-holders and child seats world of MPVs, Renault has always been a top contender, offering some of the most reasonable automobiles for the family man. The Espace is by far the most oldest model they have, being in production since 2003. Renault reportedly wanted to replace it with a new car and prepared a concept four years ago, but never showed it due to weakness in the European car market.
Now though, the French are seeing a revival in MPV demand and have started work on a new Espace. We caught up with test engineers working on the 2015 model in the deep cold of winter.

It looks like Renault wants us to see that underneath the camo wrap, the new Espace looks just like the Initiate Paris Concept shown in September last year. There's a hint of Dacia design in that grille, but it's dominated by a huge Renault diamond in the middle. The daytime running lights use LED technology for the first time and it looks like so do the taillights.

The Espace is going to be a large car, measuring about 4.85 meters from bumper to bumper. Renault is basing this car on the CFM1 modular platform, the same one used by the new Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail.

We’re expecting a debut at the Paris Motor Show in October before the MPV goes on sale a few months after.
