Same as the 3-door we showed you a few days ago, but with two moor doors, this prototype for the next generation Opel/Vauxhall Corsa supermini was spotted for the first time by our spy photographers.
Originally believed to be just another facelift, the Corsa is now shaping up to be a more major change. Without a doubt, GM's European divisions will claim this is a brand new generation, but it's more of a facelift with benefits. The greenhouse on this prototype appears to be the same, as is the outline of the boot. Other than that though, everything is different.

A dirty move on Opel's part? Well no, not when you consider the so many new cars sold in Europe right now are based on older architecture. Ford even calls the Fiesta and Focus facelifts "all-new". But that's kind of besides the point, when we haven't told you all the other things that come with the new Corsa. For starters, it will get a new look, courtesy of its little brother, the Adam.

This will give it a keener look and potentially the same advanced customization options. Keener headlights will be introduced, though it seems Opel is staying away from the advanced tech, like LED headlights and radar-based safety systems. Since those are easier to fit, adaptive suspension like on the 2014 Polo can be ruled.

However, if you want a simple car for normal city driving, the new Corsa 5-door could be an ideal choice. It's going to have at least one brand new engine, the 1.0-liter SIDI Turbo. Offered with either 90 or 115 hp, it would be a great alternative to similarly engines Renault Clio or Ford Fiesta models.

Calling an upcoming car good or bad purely based on looks is premature, especially in this segment. The reliability, affordability and savings dealers will offer will determine if the new Corsa sells well. Even though it's not the most popular car in its segment, in places like Britain and Germany the Corsa is still very popular. If a little bit of Adam magic is rubbed into its design, this could be a great little car for regular motorists.
