Spyshots: 2015 Mercedes SLC AMG

We know it’s hard to believe, but the SLC coupe, Mercedes AMG’s upcoming offering, is becoming reality. Out photographers have caught up with a test mule for the car, which should enter production in the next three years.

The shots were taken as the SLC mule was getting off the Nurburgring race track in Germany, where German engineers were developing a new architecture. As you can see, the AMG performance division’s engineers are testing the SLC architecture under the guise of a blacked out boy of an SLS AMG model.

Right now, all that the mule car reveals is that the wheelbase has been shortened and so has the front overhang. The car now sort of resembles the proportions of an SLK, though the beefed up arches make it looks sportier.

At the front, the bumper is camouflaged, suggesting they have already fitted the test vehicle with the production-intent radiator.

Powering the new SLC sportscar will be a new 4.0-liter V8 in the hottest version and possibly a V6 in lesser versions, most likely the 3.5-liter used in the C-Coupe and SLK.

The aim is to offer the sexy shape for about the same money as a good porsche 911 or an Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
