Mercedes is constantly making efforts to keep its SLS AMG under the spotlights. Now that both the Coupe and the SLS AMG Roadster have received spicier GT versions, with the Gullwing model also getting a Black Series incarnation, its time to look into the future in order to see the vehicle’s facelift.
Mercedes is planning a revamp for its flagship sports car and this could arrive as early as the 2015 model year. Our spy photographers have recently caught an SLS AMG Roadster testing.
As you can see in the adjacent images, only the front apron and grille are covered by camo, showing that the refresh will bring minor visual changes.
The SLS will remain that only model in the AMG range to keep the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 instead of replacing this with the new 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, as the SLS uses a dedicated version of the powerplant.
The entire facelift is expected to be made up of small modifications, including upgrades for the COMAND infotainment system. The standard SLS could also steal a few moves from the current GT, which offers 12 extra horses (583 in total), as well as a new setup for the adaptive suspension and a few gearbox tweaks.
The information is limited at the moment, but we’ll be back on the topic as soon as we get our hands on some fresh details.
