After wowing everybody with the F-Type, Jaguar is working on the very first major update for the flagship model, the XJ. Over four years have passed since its reveal and now a new brand design language make cosmetic makeover necessary. These updates will be added to the 2015 model year and, judging from Jaguar Land Rover's past activities, will debut at the very end of this year.
Currently undergoing winter testing in Northern Sweden, the XJ facelift was spotted and photographed in detail. It boasts a new front bumper and grille, with changes being made to the lower air intake. Similar tweaks are expected at the rear, along with a set revised taillights. What's puzzling is that this prototype doesn't seem to adopt all-LED headlights, basically an industry-standard in this class.
The XJ already has a full range of engines. The emphasis will probably be placed on reduced NVH levels and fuel consumption rather than performance. The flagship XJR is currently powerful enough to outpace all its rivals with the exception of the Mercedes S63 AMG and we expect that 550 hp engine to remain unchanged.
