This year, Mercedes announced a brand new longitudinal automatic transmission, the 9G-Tronic, which as you might have guessed has 2 more speeds than their current 7G-Tronic box.
That gearbox has only been fitted to the extra-frugal E350 BlueTec diesel, but we think that starting next year, the CLS-Class four door coupe, which shares the E-Class' platform, could also get one. What's more, we believe it could also find its way into the bigger CLS 500 V8 model, adding refinement to the series.
While we can't tell you if particular CLS has a 9-speed auto, we can however tell you that it's got a new grille, bumper and headlights. That's because it's the facelift that's because a facelift will undoubtedly debut next year, for both the sedan and this Shooting Brake model. Also new is the star grille first seen of the A-Class and later on the CLA-Class.
