The new model will probably be launched late 2014 as a MY2015 and will be based on the F15 platform of the 2014 X5, even though it will be using a different codename, F16.

Since that's the case, seeing it next to its SAV brother offers the perfect chance to compare the two in both size and design. Furthermore, at one point the upcoming X4 showed up next to them for the complete trifecta.

As you can see, the new X6 will have virtually the same length as the X5, the main difference being the rear fascia and the shape of the roof that is sloping towards the back for that traditional Coupe-like styling.

Compared to the X4, few things separate them excepting the size. Sure, the X6 will be bigger and meaner but the X4 appeals to customers looking for a more cosy vehicle.

As for drivetrains, the engines on the X6 will, most likely, be the same as on the X5 and the same will go for the transmission. No word on a rear-wheel-drive version yet.
