There's not a lot that can be said about the the Proton Savvy from a European buyer's point of view. Maybe it was the cheapest cars sold in Britain once or maybe Top Gear made a funny review about it once.
The Malaysian supermini was put in production back in 2005. Exports models reached the UK the same year. This would explain why a prototype for the second generation Savvy was spotted in Europe by our spy photographers.
A much more modern design is peaking from under the camo, something that's desperately needed if Proton wants to stay competitive. The first-gen was powered by a 1.2-liter 70 hp engine borrowed from Renault, which is why we believe this car has a 75 hp version of that same block, the same basic engine offered on the Twingo and Clio.
Ironically, the biggest rival to the Proton Savvy is another Renault-powered car, the Dacia Sandero, also offered with a 1.2-liter engine and a manual five-speed.
