Ever since the first test prototype based on an Audi Q5 emerged, Porsche has not been able to hide the upcoming Macan SUV. Knowing full well that it was be spotted, they have sent out the finished product, a production ready unit with the best equipment possible. The reason: to impress us.
Has it worked? In short, yes. Both the regular Macan and the Macan Turbo have been sighted with very little camouflage on them and both look absolutely stunning.
The design is as clear as daylight for both car, which different slightly at the front bumpers. Sharp blades dominate the front and look exactly like the ones on the Sport Turismo Concept from last year. They give the impression of a precision tool, crafted to within microns of perfection, like the blades of a Gillette razor.
On the turbo model the rear diffuser and front splitter have a small edge protruding outward, a clear hint at the 918 Spyder's design, which is after all a halo car.
It looks like the Macan will be a best seller for the German company which today sells a lot more SUVs than sportscars. As long as they look like this one though, we can live with that.
