Back in 2009, when BMW was testing the MINI E platform, they managed to pull a record on the Nurburgring, lapping the all-electric model around the famous track in just 9 minutes and 51 seconds. Apparently that was only the beginning.

That’s because out spy photographers just caught up with another car that seems to be an even meaner and more powerful electric racer, the MINI E Race Coupe. As you can see, compared to its hatch brother, this version has a big wing at the back, light-alloy wheels and a more aggressive design couple with some really interesting decals on the body, resembling a power cord.

This model also has a roll-cage inside so you know it means business. As for the engine, we don’t know exactly what could be powering this EV at the moment, but it might very well be a more powerful version of the motor used on the i3.

Either way, with those Recaro seats inside, racing numbers on the front fenders and low stance, this MINI looks mean and ready to take on the regular electric Hatch that’s coming up behind.
