Mercedes has taken the MFA platform from under the new A-Class and given it the compact crossover look. The vehicles that emerges will eventually be known as the GLA, the smallest SUV/SAV to be offered by Mercedes.
These fresh spyshots show a fully built up prototype wearing the production body of the GLA. Don’ be fooled by its cute shape, this is a C-segment crossover, basically the size of a Ford Kuga. 4Matic all-wheel drive will likely be optional, and the engines and transmission will be taken from the A- and B-Class.
So, expect the GLA to be offered with turbocharged 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engines with outputs of up to 211 hp. There might even be an AMG version with about 335 hp and a double-clutch gearbox, but the prototype has yet to be spotted for this car.
