Spyshots: 2014 Mazda3 Shows Interior

The cabin of the 2014 Mazda3 prototype shows the cleanest arrangement we’ve come to see on a new-age Mazda model. Yes, this is a development car and buttons are certainly missing, but it’s clear that the layout is tidier than in the Mazda6.

The most important change seems to be the separation of the center display, which now sits on top rather than inside the console, reminding us of BMW’s cabin layout.

As for the exterior of the Mazda3 development vehicle, not much has changed since we saw it back in February.

Despite the heavy camo, there are a few elements that give us an idea about how Mazda’s new Kodo design language will change its compact hatchback. We are talking about the front grille, as well as about the lines of the hood and A pillars.

As for the rear end, this brings sculpted shapes and will probably be one of the most stylish in the segment. From the taillights to the rear window, no styling cues is left simple.

Unde the hood of the new Mazda3, we’ll definitely see the naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder Skyactiv-G 155 hp. The outgoing model received this unit in its last years of life, so it has quite a duty to serve on the new generation. The fresh 184 hp 2.5-liter unit is also a possibility. In addition, the carmaker is expected to gift the 2014 Mazda3 with its 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel.

The new Mazda3 is expected to be launched by the end of the current year or in early 2014 and will be brought to life in Mexico.
