Spyshots: 2014 Kia Sedona / Carnival Loses Some Camo

Back in May, Kia Motors of America announced the Sedona minivan would soldier onwards into the 2014 model year due to the lack of a replacement. But finally, a new model is coming to replace the one which has been on sale since 2006.

This smart looking test vehicle is without a doubt the new Sedona, instantly recognizable from the coach-style back doors which open towards the rear to create more entry room.

The new Sedona was caught testing in a large group of vehicles which were being put though their paces in hot climate to see if they can stand up.

There's a good chance Sedona will be based on the same platform as the K7, or Cadenza as it's known in the US, sedan. This could mean the same 3.3-liter GDI V6 for the top models, but the US market model will benefit far more from a more frugal 2.4-liter GDI.

If this minivan does make it into European showrooms, expect a new 2.2-liter CRDi diesel with automatic gearbox, as well as the 2.0-liter T-GDI petrol used in the Sportage.
