Thanks to the success of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, Chrysler has the money to work on a smaller V6 unit. This will be a 3.2-litere and will debut in the next Jeep Liberty most likely to debut in 2013.
The official word is that Chrysler’s CUSW (Compact US Wide) platform will be used to create not only the replacement for the Jeep Liberty, but also the next Compass, Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. So, this explains why they are using a widened version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

"It's gonna be a trail-rated, full-blooded Jeep that has its origins in the architecture of a sports car," Chrysler and Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne about the next Jeep Liberty.

Our spy photographers have caught up with a test mule for the Jeep Liberty. It’s built from the body of the Alfa Rome Giulietta and hides a big jeep grille under the camouflage.

Chrysler has announced that it will be built at the Toledo Assembly Plant in the US, where they have invested $500 million in an effort to update production facilities. Since the styling isn’t yet finished on the car that was suppose to arrive next year, we could either be looking at a six month delay or a preview concept first.
