The Infiniti G-series is a Nissan’s entry-level luxury car line, one which never managed to shine as much as Lexus, BMW or Mercedes models of similar size. The Japanese seem to thing this is because it’s not sporty enough, so for the 2014 model year they are making an all-new model that is currently being tested on the grueling Nurburgring track.
This is the first time we’ve ever seen an Infiniti tested at the Nurburgring, and large alloy wheels and twin exhausts denote sporty ambitions.

Our spy photographers say this is the G37 version of the sedan, powered by an updated Nissan VQ37 V6 engine. However, the automaker has also trademarked the G30t name, denoting a turbo motor, as well as the G22d,w which will use a 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel borrowed from Mercedes.

Japan might also continue with the tried and tested 2.5-liter VQ25 V6 it introduced in 2011.

For the US, a 3.5-liter hybrid system based on the M35h will be prepared. Either way, we’ll be able to see this car in fully next year, as Infiniti has officially announced the new G sedan will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2013.
