It seems yesterday’s report that the BMW 4-Series is coming to the Detroit Auto Show in January 2013 were actually true, which means the car really will go into production next summer, good news for the fans who’ve been waiting for this car ever since the F30 came out last year.
Compared to the old generation, the car looks more aggressive, but the styling similarities are there for all to see. The front is made to look wider and moodier than the 3-Series sedan as well. To us, it’s almost like a successor to the E46, not the last model, something not uncommon at BMW right now.

Speaking of similarities, the M4 version of the car will not have a V8 like the E90 series, and will arrive with a straight-six with somewhere around 420 hp or a bit more. But even this 435i (or 440i according to some reports) is a very sexy machine to look and potentially to own.

The hooligan factor is clearly missing from the grown up 2012 3-Series sedan, so let’s hope this one has it!

It looks like more credit is being given to the recent rumors that BMW is working on a naming change for its compact two-door models. Though the new F32 and F33 3-Series coupe and cabrio are well on their way to becoming production reality, they won’t be called 3-Series model ever again, which is amusing considering the 3-Series started life as a coupe.

Instead, we will address this machine as the 2014 BMW F32 4-Series once it’s launched next year.
