Spyshots: 2014 BMW 4 Series Convertible M Sport

Now that BMW has shown us the 4 Series Coupe, it’s time to talk about the Convertible version, which is set to arrive by the end of the current year. Our spy shooters have recently crossed paths with a Melbourne Red F33 BMW 4 Series Convertible wearing an M Sport pack.

The vehicle has lost some of its camo, but the big focus is, of course, on the roof. It seems that the 4 Series Convertible will keep the upper side styling cues of the outgoing 3 Series Convertible. However, the engineers are expected to reduce the weight penalty brought by the metal top when compared to what the 3 Series offers.

The BMW 4 Series Convertible is expected to enter production soon and will land in showrooms by the end of the year.

Under the hood, we’ll get the engine range from the 4 Series Coupe. In America, the 4 Series Convertible will be launched as a 428i and a 435i. The first will use a four-cylinder turbocharged unit with 240 hp and 255 lb-ft (346 Nm) of torque, while the latter will feature a 3.0-liter striaght six with 300 hp and 300 lb-ft (407 Nm) of torque.

The units will send their power to the rear wheels via six-speed manual transmissions, but you’ll also be able to opt for an eight-speed automatic and xDrive.
