The spy photos we received recently seem a bit too good to be true. Is Audi really working on its fastest ever four-door coupe? This A7 test mule has a huge set of air intakes at the front, which would suggest that is the RS7, but the back shows quad exhaust is a trademark of the S models, as RS models typically have two oval tips.
The other thing that’s missing is an overhauled body with wider fenders. However, creating the RS7 would be among Audi’s simplest projects, as the A7 is a rebodied A6 with enhanced styling.
What’s more, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that could power the RS7 is already in the car we know and love as the S7, putting out a modest but respectable 420 horsepower. This would explain why Audi engineers didn’t have to change the exhaust setup yet.
The RS7 should deliver over 550 horsepower to fill the gap in the market left by the old twin-turbo V10 of the RS6, which offered 580 horsepower.
