The sixth generation of the Volkswagen Golf is what you see right now on European streets, and despite its more angular design, it didn’t rewrite the book as much as the Mk V did. It was always meant as a way to increase quality while decreasing costs for the German manufacturer, and they’ve alway given off a vibe that it won’t be kept on the market for that long.
That’s why a new one is coming to replace the model that we’ve come to know ever since 2009. It should be ready for a reveal by the late part of 2012 as a 2013 model. These latest spy shots show just that car, a replacement for the outgoing Mk VI.

The new Golf is being developed to cope with new environmental laws and promises to be much cleaner than the current generation. We expect the current range of four-cylinder turbocharged units to be enhanced by the addition of a couple of three-pots.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
