Toyota has promised us fun to drive cars, but until they arrive, we’ll just focus on their fuel-savers and people-movers. Under the heavy camouflage you see in these pictures lies a heart of gold - the new generation of Toyota Auris.
Originally, we believed the hatchback model would debut at the Geneva Motor Show, but now Paris in September looks like the most probably location.
The new Auris appears to be wider and longer than the current generation, with the target for Toyota being more interior space.
Toyota has already announced the new Corolla and Auris will make their market arrival in 2012, produced at two of their European factories. The manufacturer plans to invest €265 million ($355 million) in their facilities in order to bring forward three C-segment contenders - the Auris 3- and 5-door models to be built in the UK, and a Corolla sedan assembled in Turkey.
Recent reports suggest BMW will supply Toyota with small displacement diesel engines that will most likely be first seen in the 2013 Auris.
