The Mercedes G-Class has become one of the most frequent targets of our spy photographers lately. A few days ago, a Mercedes source confirmed for us that the sales of the G55 AMG have been paused (until the facelift is launched) and it is now time to focus on the non-AMG versions of the off-roader for a little bit.
We are bringing you this set of spy photos, that shows Mercedes testing a G500 facelift. As you can see, the front grille is wearing camouflage, and we’re expecting to see a design that will bring the car in line with the rest of the family.
We can’t help it think that, while in the case of other models, such as the SLS AMG or the new SL, the designers had to make efforts to give us a more upright grille, when talking about the G-Class, this was already there.
There will also be other visual changes, but all of them will be gentle, so don’t expect to be able to differentiate the new model from the outgoing one from a mile away.
