The first prototypes of the new generation of 3-Series Convertible have begun testing, months after the coupe. As with the F30 sedan, the car appears wider and longer, while industry rumors suggest this will be named the 4-Series from now on.
Codenamed the F33, this BMW drop-top with a folding metal roof will be based on the new 3-Series sedan and should debut some time next year, most likely in Paris during the sumer. The engine range will of course also be carried over, meaning a complete line of forced-induction units.
Further proof that this is a 4-Series comes from the fact tat BMW has already been testing the M3 sedan for a while now, but the coupe is nowhere to be seen. This is the exact opposite of what happened with the old generation. But we still have an interesting turbocharged V6 to look forward to.
