BMW is getting ready to introduce a new generation of 3-Series sedan, probably next year, and we’ve been focusing a bit too much on the M3. The automaker has just taken the wraps off the ActiveHybrid 5 sedan, so this is the perfect time to take a second look at the 3er with an electric motor.
The ActiveHybrid 3 has once again been spotted testing on the Nurburgring track, and our spy photographers had no trouble identifying it, due to the stickers on the sides and the rear of the car, which have been used before for other hybrid BMW vehicles.
Word is that the ActiveHybrid 3 will make use of the exact same powertrain as the hybrid 5-Series that was launched today. This means it will have 240 hp at its disposal, thanks to a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder with an electric drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
