The car was covered in camouflage, but there are certain details that tell us that we are dealing with a go-fast incarnation of the SL, such as the extra-beefy brakes. A closer look also reveals the presence of a rollcage, but this is a safety measure for test vehicles.

As you can see, the SL will come with the same overall shape, so it will be the details that will make the difference, with the most important change expected to be a front fascia with a more vertical layout. The vehicle will grow in size but should be around 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter thanks to the use of an aluminum chassis.

The vehicle you see here should be the bearer of the new 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, being the SL63 AMG version (a V12-powered SL65 version is also in the works).

The new generation of the Mercedes SL should make its debut at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.
