Spyshots: 2012 Mercedes M-Klasse

If you missed out on the first batch of photos we presented back in June, when the next generation M-Klasse was out for its first spin around Daimler's headquarters, we came back on the subject today with a new set, showing the car in the same heavy camouflage.

Set to enter the market sometimes in the second half of 2011, the future M-Klasse is rumored to come in a body a few inches shorter than the current version. The changes to be seen on will be extensive, but, unfortunately, there are nowhere to be seen under the camo.

The changes which can be seen are on the car's door and handles, which are differently positioned. For the first time, the M-Klasse will get LED day-time running lights.

Engine wise, the new ML will boast a combination of units comprising of both established and new options. The petrol engines to find their way under
the big hood will likely include units with displacements ranging from 3.5l and 6.2l, with power outputs ranging from 272 to 510 hp. For the diesel version, engines are expected to be in the 3.0l – 4.0l range, with power outputs of 190 to 306 hp.

The novelty will come from the addition of fuel efficient models to the range, with a new almighty hybrid getting a spot in the line-up. Details on the future hybrid system to be used are unknown at this point, but it will certainly be more fuel efficient than the current ML 450 Hybrid.

Information on the new M-Klasse will surface in the months to come. In time, we will get to see more of the German SUV, as it will likely loose some of its rain coat.
