Spyshots: 2012 Honda CR-V Spotted in Europe Again

The concept version of the new CR-V was fully revealed yesterday, as the vehicle was shown at the Orange County International Auto Show in Anaheim, California. The full production model will officially debut at in a couple of months at the LA Auto Show, but until then, spyshots are your best shot at figuring what it will look like.

These latest spyshots come from Honda’s European division that was testing the vehicle in the Spain to make sure it can cope with the heat. Unfortunately, customers here will only be able to buy the CR-V in about a year from now.

From the design point of view, the pioneering CUV has grown more aggressive, which is an attempt to go for an up market look. Honda talks a lot about size and practicality but have not admitted that they’ve added another row of seats in the back.

"The 2012 CR-V Concept strongly hints at the more dynamic and refined look of the upcoming model,"
commented John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "As the best-selling SUV in each of the past four years, the 2012 CR-V promises to build on its highly successful formula with even more style, innovative features and higher fuel economy."

As for the mechanical bits, both front- and all-wheel drive should be available. We expect much of the engine range to be carried over from the new Civic hatch, and the 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel is a good fit in terms of economy and torque.

The US model is to receive a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder (probably borrowed from the Civic Si), pushing out about 200 horsepower.
