Spyshots: 2012 BMW M6 Coupe

It will still take some time before we can get our greedy little hands on one, but we sure are glad to lay our eyes on the M6 Coupe, camo and all. It’s all thanks to our dedicated team of spy photographers, who have managed to snap up some shots of the monster while testing in Sweden.

We’ll be honest with you: the M6 is always a more expensive version and only slightly faster version of the car that you can that can take the whole family for a puke-inducing ride - the M5. However, there is no denying it’s a serious performance machine that promises to be a lot better in every respect then its predecessor.

We’ll start with the exterior styling, which is no longer reason enough to skip the ‘M’ and go for a Jag or and Audi. Gone are the strange boot lid and the parrot-like front end, as they have been replaced by more elegant lines befitting a GT. The car spotted in Sweden is riding on 20-inch wheels, but we think BMW can do a lot better (bigger) if your credit can stretch far enough.

Under the hood, there shouldn’t be any surprises, as it will no doubt feature the same engine that we will find in the highly-anticipated F10 M5, a V8 4.4-liter twin-turbo power unit that will be mated to a 7-speed DCT Drivelogic double clutch gearbox. The unit will most likely develop an R8 V10-rivaling 557 horsepower, which rumor has it could be sent to all four wheels if you are willing to part with some extra cash.

The 2012 BMW M6 Coupe is likely to make its world debut early next year, with sales to start sometime next summer.
