Like the 911 GT3, which received a facelift last year, its "crazier" sister, the GT2, is about to be redesigned too. The car that Jeremy Clarkson described as “terrifying” will be officially introduced at the Paris Motor Show this autumn and will go on sale next year.

The images show the facelifted 911 GT2 on its favorite playground, the Nurburgring Nordschleife. It's the place where carmakers from all over the world come to test the dynamics and endurance of their cars. For the 911 GT2 facelift, Porsche is unlikely to touch the most important feature, the engine.

The rear-mounted 3.6-liter bi-turbo boxer engine will deliver the same amount of power: 530 horsepower. Even so, it will still be the most powerful Porsche on sale, featuring the same output as its four-wheel drive sister, the fresh 911 Turbo S. Porsche will, however, update the design of the car. More specifically, we're talking about the rear end, which seems to be the only area of the car with updated looks.

These include a redesigned bumper, along with the introduction of LED taillights. The bumper redesign concerns the air-vents area, which has been modified in order to look more aggressive. There is also a slight redesign of the taillights shape. That’s about everything that is going to be different on the facelifted Porsche 911 GT2. However, the German carmaker might have some surprises in store for us, such as transmission or suspension upgrades. New interior features and trims could also be added.

The current 911 GT2 was launched at the end of 2007, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The car is able to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 3.6 seconds and 124 mph (200 km/h) in 10.6 seconds. Its top speed is 204.4 mph (329 km/h), the rear-wheel drive monster being the first road-going 911 to exceed the 200 mph milestone.
