The spyshots show the Astra GSI testing on the roads, with little camouflage kit covering the essential parts. Even if the entire front of the car is hidden behind a black cloth, it is easy to observe that the bumper is redesigned in a sportier and more aggressive manner. It has bigger air intakes and a closer to the ground skirt.
Another new addition to the front of the Astra GSI is represented by the daytime running lights. The profile view uncovers the low stance, a clue that the suspension is lowered and hardened for better road holding capacity.
The diesel Astra GSI will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder bi-turbo engine, delivering 190 horsepower. This amount of power will offer the car almost similar performance as the current gasoline Astra GSI (200 horsepower, 0-62 mph in 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 143 mph).
After the GSI variants will be on sale, Opel will launch the most extreme version of the Astra family, the OPC.
